No factual basis for aquatic centre claims

The City of Launceston can confirm that a letter to the editor published in The Examiner today on the topic of the Launceston Leisure & Aquatic Centre has no basis in fact.

No such incident has occurred at the facility.

It is regrettable that no attempt was made to check the veracity of the claims before publication.

Editor’s note: Apparently Launceston councillors were not impressed by The Examiner’s ‘carelessness with the truth’ and gave some stick on social media. But editor Mark Westfield was not having it … and as it turns out, he has form for aligning himself very readily with extreme anti-trans views. Witness the following exhibits:

Think I know why @ExaminerOnline editor Mark Westfield so readily printed an easily debunked anti-trans letter and is so annoyed that it has blown up in his face. Very big TERF energy required to manage Katherine Deves’ campaign.
