Held annually on the northwest coast of Tasmania near the township of Marrawah, the West Coast Classic is Tasmania’s premier surfing event and is the only all-age surfing event still running in Tasmania.
The Southern Ocean is renowned for producing big swells and each year West Coast Classic surfers find themselves taking on waves from one to six metres in height.
The 2023 event will be the 48th West Coast Classic.
The location of the event is weather-dependent and takes place wherever the best waves are. This is usually at Nettley (periwinkle) or West Point/Lighthouse but could be Bluff Beach or Greens Beach (Green Point Beach). The venue will be advised on the front of the Marrawah Store each day.

Directions
- Periwinkle Beach (known locally as Nettley Bay) is accessed via Green Point Road and Periwinkle Beach Road.
- Lighthouse Beach is accessed via West Point Road.
