A Better Tourism Future For The Far North west
An Albanese Labor Government will give Tassie tourism a significant boost by establishing an adventure hub in Tasmania’s Far North-West.
Tasmania is world famous for its beautiful tourism destinations, but the reality is that communities in the north-west miss out on visitor dollars because too many head east or south when they get off the Spirit of Tasmania.
That’s why an Albanese Labor Government will invest $12.5 million in ‘Project Far North-West’, enticing visitors to turn right and drive west when they get off the boat.
The reborn Adventure Hub will create a gateway for the Far North-West, acting as a central base for accommodation and offering a range of visitor experiences.
The experiences will include an obstacle course, educational cinema, affordable food and beverage offerings, Aboriginal interpretation/tours, and an Off Road Training Academy to ensure those exploring tracks and trails across the region are doing so safely and respectfully.
This investment will create over 80 ongoing jobs, as well as boosting Tasmania’s visitor economy by $9 million in the first year alone.
Only an Albanese Labor Government will make the smart investments to grow the economy and support north-west Tasmania.
Attributable to Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Penny Wong:
“Tasmania is world famous as a beautiful tourism destination and we need to make the investments that will capitalise on this economic opportunity. This investment will create a new and unique offering to tourists coming to the north-west.”
Attributable to Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Catherine King MP:
“Smart infrastructure investments grow jobs, strengthen communities and grow the economy. That is exactly what this announcement will do.”
Attributable to Chris Lynch:
“This is such a good announcement for our community. Project Far North-West will act as a magnet, pulling tourists further and further west to spend their money in businesses that need it.
“This won’t only bring investment and jobs to the far north-west, but it will grow economies along the Bass Highway, from Burnie to Stanley and Smithton.”
