Legislative Council Candidates Announced

When nominations closed yesterday, 11 candidates (2 women and 9 men) had been nominated to contest the 2022 Legislative Council elections to be held on Saturday 7 May 2022.

By division candidate numbers are—

Elwick        3 candidates
Huon         5 candidates
McIntyre    3 candidates

A list of candidates for each division can be found here.  Candidates are listed in alphabetical order.  It should be remembered that the candidate names on the ballot paper are rotated and may not appear in this order.  If a candidate has been nominated by a registered party or has requested that the word Independent appear under their name, this will be indicated on the ballot paper.

Recount to fill Bass vacancy

Her Excellency the Governor has advised the Electoral Commissioner that Mr Peter Gutwein MP has resigned as a Member of the House of Assembly for the division of Bass.

A recount will be conducted, in accordance with the Electoral Act 2004, to fill this vacancy.

A public notice will appear in The Examiner newspaper on Saturday 9 April 2022 inviting all Bass candidates who were not elected at the 2021 State election to nominate to contest the recount.

The Electoral Commissioner will also write to those candidates inviting them to nominate for the recount.

Nominations must be received by 12 noon on Tuesday 26 April 2022. The recount will commence shortly after this time.
