Royal Hobart Hospital de-escalation

From 8am tomorrow Tuesday 8 March, the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) will de-escalate from level two to level one of its COVID-19 management escalation plan.

The move follows the recommendations of the Regional Health Emergency Management Team and is based on the current low level of COVID-positive inpatients and COVID-related staff absences.

Some protective measures associated with higher escalation levels will continue at the RHH.

To protect staff and patients, current personal protection equipment (PPE) rules will remain and staff and visitors will continue to be screened at hospital entry points.

The Emergency Department (ED) screening process will change, with the external triage area to be removed this week and screening moving to an internal location. This will trigger changes to the parking of ambulances and ambulance triage areas over the course of this week.
