Media release – Department of State Growth, 20 August 2021
Local musician, suppliers on board for Community Thank You event at Orford
The local community is invited to celebrate the re-opening of the Tasman Highway at a Community Thank You event at Orford this Sunday, 22 August.
This is a chance for the department to thank the communities of the southern east coast for their patience and understanding during the recent road closure with a free community party at Our Park in Orford on Sunday, 22 August 2021, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
We also wish to recognise the work of all the contractors, suppliers and others involved with the project.
Tasmanian country/pop singer/songwriter Ange Boxall will entertain attendees with live music during the event. Ange Boxall is an east coast local who has performed throughout the USA, UK, Europe and Australia.
The event will be catered for by a number of east coast providers, including Buckland Road House, Wattlebanks Coastal, Spring Bay Pizza, The Fish Van – Triabunna, Rotary Tasmania, Wheel Good Mobile Coffee, and Lickalicious Ice cream.
We recognise the disruption to local businesses and communities caused by the need to close the main link to the east coast and appreciates the community’s resilience and ability to adapt to the situation at short notice.
People will need to register their attendance to make sure the event is COVID safe and adheres to capacity limits. Registrations can be made online via transport.tas.gov.au/orford.
