Median Hobart house rents are now above the national average, a recent report shows.
The Domain Rent Report for the June 2021 quarter puts the Hobart figure at $495, above the national median of $477.
Hobart rents are also higher than mainland capitals Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Only Sydney and the ‘small capitals’ Darwin and Canberra are higher than Hobart.

In terms of apartments, the median weekly rent for Hobart – $400 – is under the national median of $420. The Tasmanian capital however is still more expensive than Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, and equal with Brisbane.
