10 towns from all corners of the state are vying for the title of Tasmania’s Top Tourism Towns of 2021 – and to have the chance to be then named Australia’s Top Tourism Towns.
Last year Tasmania was the only state who ran the Top Tourism Town competition and it proved to be a boost for confidence and promotion during the winter months when our borders were closed.
This year, our towns are not only competing for local bragging rights – but two towns judged as Tassie’s finest will go on to represent the state as national finalists in the search for Australia’s Inaugural Top Tourism Town.
Tourism Australia are getting behind that national competition so there is a unique opportunity of national exposure.
All the towns have submitted a 2 minute video showcasing their town, an article, and an itinerary showcasing what visitor’s can do over two days in their town.
These entries will now be judged by a team of tourism experts – along with the Tasmanian public.
Tasmanians should hop on the RACT website over the next two weeks to have a look at all the entries and then vote for their favourite holiday hot spot, or just show some love for their home town.
Votes will be collated with expert judges’ scores to determine the two category winners:
- RACT Top Small Tourism Town for 2021 (for towns with a population less than 5,000)
- Spirit of Tasmania Top Tourism Town for 2021 (for towns with population more than 5,000)
Winners will be announced on Monday 7 June 2021.
By voting you also go into the draw to win one of three prizes.
One lucky voter will win a weekend winter break worth $1,000 in the town judged Tasmania’s Top Small Tourism Town for 2021. Two runner-up voters will each win $500 breaks in the towns judged second and third.
The real winners are Tasmania’s regional tourism towns who have entered, prompting them to invest time in their own marketing and promotion of their visitor experience, and to take stock and consider what’s truly unique and special about their piece of Tasmania.
