Did Peter Gutwein mislead the Governor on reasons for early election?
Premier Peter Gutwein has serious questions to answer about the advice he gave to the Governor to justify calling an election a year early.
Member for Rumney Sarah Lovell said Peter Gutwein’s claim he called an election to avoid minority government had proven to be completely false.
“Sue Hickey has publicly and privately assured him that she would continue to offer confidence and supply and he also had Madeleine Ogilvie who was clearly lining up to join the Liberal Party so his majority would have in fact been stronger,” Ms Lovell said.
“Did Peter Gutwein mislead the Governor by pretending he was facing a minority government when it is very clear that he wasn’t?
“It is clear the Premier has something to hide, why else call an election 12 months early based on a lie?
“If Tasmanians cannot trust Peter Gutwein on his reasons for calling an election what can they trust him on?
