Launceston residents can enjoy a cracking family treat this festive season. The Village Cinema presents the beloved Christmas classic The Nutcracker on 23 and 24 December 2019.
Recorded in 2016 from a performance at the Royal Opera House, this magical Christmas adventure is a chance to round up your loved ones to enjoy Peter Wright’s classic story of Clara’s adventure with her enchanted Nutcracker. The production offers an enthralling experience for the whole family – from Tchaikovsky’s glittering score, to gorgeous festive stage designs, and The Royal Ballet’s captivating dancing.
The Nutcracker has long been one of the most delightful ways to discover the enchantment of ballet. Tchaikovsky’s much-loved music is matched to a magical adventure on Christmas Eve for Clara and her Nutcracker doll. Their journey to the Land of Sweets brings with it some of the most familiar of all ballet moments, such as the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Waltz of the Flowers.
Peter Wright’s production for The Royal Ballet keeps true to the spirit of this Russian ballet classic, with period details and dancing snowflakes. The many solo roles and ensembles put the world-class skills of the Company to the fore in this Christmas classic.
Tickets for The Nutcracker cost $20 for adults, $18 for children and concessions, $102 for a multi pass to six titles.
