Kickstart Summer With A Garden Party

Kickstart Arts Garden Party

Swing into summer with the Kickstart Arts Garden Party! The event features a night market, seasonal food, live music and displays in the Parlour Gallery. The Garden Party is at the Kickstart Arts Centre at 1831 St John’s Avenue this Saturday 7 December 2019 from 6 to 9pm.

The inaugural night market will showcase some of Tasmania’s finest makers and crafters, offering a unique opportunity to find that perfect Christmas gift for a loved one.

First up on the music stage are Los Malos Culos. The six Hobart-based instrumentalists will serve up some Afro-Cuban flavoured classics along with a smattering of originals written by various members of the band. As the light fades Hobart’s very own 12 piece Afrobeat dance orchestra Baba Bruja will start to cook. Their blend of all original Afrobeat takes influences from musical styles across the globe.

Attractions

Orlando Plenty will provide delicious vegetarian and vegan food that nourishes the soul and the body. Hobart City Farm will raffle off a box of their fresh seasonal veggies. Also in attendance will be the Hobart Bike Kitchen – come bid for one of their fabulously up-cycled bicycles in a super fun auction, and learn tips on bike maintenance from the masters.

Keen to get your hands dirty and help the environment in one of Hobart’s beautiful bushland reserves? Hobart City Council’s Bushcare program will prove information on how you can get involved with one of their many community volunteer groups to help conserve our local environment. Participants in Kickstart’s Creative Exchange workshops will be presenting the skills they have learnt over the CX program in 2019. See Polynesian Dance and the 7 Elements of Art showing in the Parlour Gallery.

Entry to the Kickstart Arts Garden Party is by donation. A fully-licensed and affordable bar featuring locally crafted alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages is available.
