The Rotary Club of Claremont and Variety – the Children’s Charity Tasmania – have joined efforts in this year’s Le Tour de Norfy Cycle Challenge, raising funds for two very worthy causes.
In its ninth year, the event will be held on Sunday the 17th March 2019 from Kensington Park, New Norfolk at 9:30am. It offers riders three unique and very scenic rides through the Derwent Valley, Bushy Park, Ellendale and Hamilton in 38km, 76km or 106km courses, escorted by Variety Tasmania’s iconic TasBash vehicles, adding colour and character.
All funds raised will support Rotary’s Mental Health Research Program and Variety Tasmania’s programs dedicated to giving children in need a fair go in life.
Eric Lown of Rotary Club of Claremont says, “We are expecting over 200 riders for this iconic event, from both Tassie and the mainland. We know they will enjoy the beautiful surrounds of New Norfolk and knowing that they will be making a difference for mental health research in Tasmania, and to helping Tasmania’s kids to live, laugh and learn.”
Mohammad Aldergham of Variety Tasmania says, “We are excited to be partnering with Rotary Club of Claremont this year. We are also extremely grateful to all the riders, volunteers and corporate partners for being part of this exciting event. This is a great example of how likeminded organisations in Tasmania can work together to maximise our impact and reach in the community.”
This event is proudly sponsored by local businesses as a way of supporting the Tasmanian community. Entries for the Le Tour de Norfy Cycle Challenge are now open and cost $50 per rider including lunch and spot prizes.
