Three things the PM must do when in Tasmania

When the Prime Minister visits Tasmania he must do three things.

Reassure Tasmanians that the Commonwealth Government will meet every request from the State Government for assistance with battling the bushfires, supporting the community now and afterwards, and remediating the natural environment especially in World Heritage areas.

Clarify the Hobart City Deal, including exactly what funding commitment will accompany it.

Commit to the immediate reinstatement of a permanent Australian Federal Police presence at Hobart Airport. The absence of the AFP makes a dangerous mockery of the Government’s assessment that the main domestic security threat is from home-grown terrorists seeking out high-profile and iconic soft targets.
