Questions to PM on Tasmanian Bushfire Assistance

Independent MP Andrew Wilkie will ask the Prime Minister the following in Question Time today. Please check against delivery, and note that if Question Time is interrupted for any reason the question will occur tomorrow.

WHEN: Approximately 3:05pm TODAY 12 February

WHERE: House of Representatives (watch live at https://www.aph.gov.au/News_and_Events/Watch_Parliament)

“Prime Minister you’d be aware of the devastating Tasmanian bushfires, and the dreadful toll they’re taking on the community and environment, particularly in the World Heritage Area.

“Indeed the Tasmanian Government is concerned that the National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements will not cover all of the costs, which led Premier Will Hodgman to write to you on the 25th of January requesting the Federal Government make an extra contribution outside of the normal arrangements.

“Prime Minister, do you agree to the Tasmanian Premier’s request, and what other assistance will the Federal Government provide to Tasmania to help deal with the damage bill from these terrible fires?”

Authorised by Andrew Wilkie MP 188 Collins St Hobart
