- Is the accused a member of Cabinet?
- Has Premier Hodgman questioned the accused over the allegations?
Premier Will Hodgman needs to confirm whether the Liberal politician at the centre of child sex abuse allegations is a member of his Cabinet.
Shadow Police Minister Shane Broad said the serious allegations demanded answers from the Premier.
“The Premier must immediately reveal whether the accused is a member of his Cabinet,” Dr Broad said.
“It would be grossly inappropriate for someone accused of historic child sex abuse to sit in Cabinet following such serious accusations, especially given the Government’s legislation to introduce mandatory prison sentences for child sex offenders is to be back before Parliament this year.
“The Premier must investigate these very serious claims and reveal if he has personally spoken to the accused about the allegations.
“The Premier also must confirm whether the Liberal Party was aware of this issue in 2014 when the woman at the centre of this matter said she initially contacted police.”
