The Hodgman Liberal Government is approaching its first year anniversary since the election in deep crisis, having lost two members in two weeks.
Shadow Police Minister Shane Broad said the allegations against Rene Hidding of historic sexual abuse are extremely serious and must be fully investigated by police.
“Mr Hidding’s resignation is just the latest in a series of blows to the Hodgman Government,” Dr Broad said.
“It is just two weeks since Adam Brooks was forced to resign after three years of scandal.
“Will Hodgman looked broken and bewildered today and has clearly lost control of his government.
“As we approach the start of the Parliamentary year Will Hodgman’s Government is focused only on itself and is completely incapable of addressing important issues to Tasmanians such as the crisis in our hospitals.”
