- Rockliff goes to extraordinary lengths to keep details under wraps
- Government’s lack of transparency eroding public confidence in TT Line
- Liberals determined to keep important facts from Tasmanians and interstate travellers
Deputy Premier Jeremy Rockliff has today given Tasmanians a new insight into the Hodgman Liberal Government’s dedication to secrecy, refusing to answer important questions over the deaths of 13 polo ponies early this year.
Shadow Infrastructure and Transport Minister David O’Byrne said the government was determined the facts surrounding the animal’s deaths either during or after a voyage on the TT Line would never see the light of day.
“It’s utterly ridiculous that Jeremy Rockliff and his colleague the Primary Industries Minister Guy Barnett are refusing to divulge crucial information,” Mr O’Byrne said.
“In doing that they are eroding public confidence in the TT Line and keeping passengers travelling to and from Tasmania in the dark.
“Passengers on the TT Line want to be assured after this tragic incident but they are getting no assurance from a government that is the polar opposite of transparent.
“Tasmanian taxpayers and tourists travelling to our state require facts and clarity – not methodical secrecy.”
