The Principles of the Tasmanian Liberal Party …

Eric Abetz in Parliament

Referenced by Senator Eric Abetz on ABC Hobart this morning as being those devised by Bob Menzies … John Powell’s comments are italicised …

From the state Liberal website HERE:

  1. WE BELIEVE IN THE CROWN as the enduring embodiment of our national unity and as the symbol of that other unity which exists between all the nations of the Commonwealth. This symbol does NOT embody unity with the First Nation peoples and is NOT a symbol used by other Commonwealth nations aka Canada
  2. WE BELIEVE IN AUSTRALIA, her courage, her capacity, her future and her national sovereignty, exercised through Parliaments deriving their authority from the people by free and open elections. Partially correct but you refuse to inspect real examples of the breaches of S44 by YOUR members
  3. WE BELIEVE IN THE INDIVIDUAL.  We stand positively for the free man, his initiative, his individuality and acceptance of responsibility. Partially correct BUT reject LGBTI, Muslims, refugees and aboriginal peoples
  4. WE BELIEVE IN THE RULE OF LAW Under it, there is freedom for the nation and for all men and women, Democracy depends upon self-discipline, obedience to the law, the honest administration of the law. You FAIL on the last category where you treat refugees as being illegal and women as less equal than men
  5. WE BELIEVE IN THE SPIRIT OF THE VOLUNTEER,  This does not mean that we reject compulsion in matters in which a uniform obedience is needed by the community.  But it does mean that the greatest community efforts can be made only when voluntary co-operation and self-sacrifice come in aid of, and lend character to the performance of legal duties. Possibly true if they are RWNJ’s and Liberal members
  6. WE BELIEVE THAT RIGHTS CONNOTE DUTIES and that sectional and selfish policies are destructive of good citizenship. OMG where do I start? Pokies, abortions, freedom to strike action etc etc
  7. WE BELIEVE THAT IT IS THE SUPREME FUNCTION OF GOVERNMENT TO ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONALITY, that today’s dogma may turn out to be tomorrow’s error and that, in consequence, the interests of all legitimate minorities much be protected. Repeat – LGBTI, refugees, Muslims, aboriginals, etc etc
  8. WE BELIEVE IN LIBERTY, not anarchy, but an individual and social liberty based upon, and limited by a civilised conception of social justice. Repeat – LGBTI, Muslims, aboriginals etc etc
  9. WE BELIEVE THE REAL CONFLICT OF OUR TIME IS BETWEEN THE IRON DISCIPLINE OF AUTOCRACY – WHETHER COMMUNIST OR FASCIST – AND THE SELF IMPOSED DISCIPLINE OF THE FREE MAN. The spirit of man must prevail. OMG but your greatest attribute is fascism, fake news, no freedom and TOTAL lack of discipline
  10. WE BELIEVE THAT LIBERALISM MEANS FLEXIBILITY AND PROGRESS.  Its principles and its spiritual and intellectual approach enable it to meet and deal with new and changing social and economic circumstances.  By elevating the individual, it meets and defeats the terrible doctrine of the all-powerful State: a doctrine at once destructive, reactionary and negative. BUT your current doctrine is all about being an all-powerful State: a doctrine at once destructive, reactionary and negative
  11. WE BELIEVE THAT IMPROVED LIVING STANDARDS DEPEND UPON HIGH PRODUCTIVITY AND EFFICIENT SERVICE and that these vital elements can be achieved only by free and competitive enterprise. BS – and with subsidies for pokies, tourism, forestry and TasLIberal donors etc etc
  12. WE BELIEVE THAT NATIONAL FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC POWER AND POLICY ARE TO BE DESIGNED TO CREATE A CLIMATE IN WHICH PEOPLE MAY BE ENABLED TO WORK OUT THEIR OWN SOLUTION in their own way and not to control other people’s lives. Providing these people are members of The IPA and/or donors to the Liberal Party, and create substantive $$$$ value to all Liberal Party members/politicians
  13. WE BELIEVE IN THE GREAT HUMAN FREEDOMS: to worship, to think, to speak, to choose, to be ambitious, to be independent, to be industrious, to acquire skill, to seek and earn reward. Except if you are Muslim, LGBTI, disabled, and unemployed
  14. WE BELIEVE IN SOCIAL JUSTICEin encouraging the strong and protecting the weak, in widening opportunities for education, in the preservation of family life, in good homes owned by those who live in them. But we will cut pensions, disability allowance, reduce public housing, and place legal refugees in offshore detention
  15. WE BELIEVE IN RELIGIOUS AND RACIAL TOLERANCE AMONG OUR CITIZEN Except for Muslims, aboriginals and people of colour
  16. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL FORMS OF INDUSTRY, PRIMARY OR SECONDARY OF OTHERWISE, DEPEND ONE UPON THE OTHER and that their community of interest will be the guarantee of the nation’s growth. But some have preference e.g. coal, and renewables are satanic
  17. WE BELIEVE THAT UNDER THE BLESSING OF DIVINE PROVIDENCE, and given the good-will, mutual tolerance and understanding, energy and an individual sense of purpose, there is no task which Australia cannot perform and no difficulty which she cannot overcome. This is is pentecostal godspeak and has no relevance to a free secular society. Methinks drafted by Hillsong Fergie

John Powell was Born in Rushworth Victoria; educated at Dandenong High School and Monash University; National Service during the Vietnam War; employed in oil/gas, water, and the resources sectors; proud Celt; protector of environment and Aboriginal heritages, stubborn and resolute …

The evidence coming in from the Victorian election confirms that Right Wing Fascists who could not count have succeeded in destroying the Federal and State Liberal Parties.

Abetz, Abbott and Dutton have a lot to answer for!

These third rate career pollies who campaign only on division and hate have no place in Australia.

We have all finally woken up.

      All good news, John.

Another series of nails in their shared coffin. Must be getting hard to breathe in there now.

Add Mathias Cormann to the mix. He appears to have slid under the rugs.

The Liberal Party in Tasmania applies interesting principles when it comes to embezzling officials. Just as the Catholic Church would remove a paedophile priest to a different parish, so the Tas Libs handed their party treasurer over to Victoria without reporting the problem to police.

“Sweeping it under the carpet” is a phrase that comes to mind, except that the outcome of this particular manoeuvre was to massively increase the amount of money available for embezzlement by this individual. One is tempted to think that this was a deliberate white-anting of the Victorian branch, as part of factional warfare, but nobody is likely to confirm that, least of all Uncle Otto’s nephew.

Thanks Claire. I knew that the CIS was ideologically driven, but I was not aware of the Tom Switzer connection!

When the world is turning upside down and you don’t where to look for answers; why it is all going against you, me and most and how it could happen … look … no further … there is a name, a common thread … it links Trump, Abbott, Abetz !

It goes under a banner of being independent, pretends to be looking after common human/planetary interests … but it is the mega wealthy’s greed cog in the machine in political, government, media machinations … his name is Tom Switzer. Go Google – very interesting. But I can supply some further interesting links if you like.

In my opinion I suggest people be very wary. Indeed I believe there could be some amazingly insightful stories to be look into and told … !

Indeed some people live a life for short term greed. Political, let alone planetary corruption, does not bother them. They will never ever build a strong, long lasting pyramid out of stone to help teach /help future generations. Such people instead build sand castles …

I think one of the best people to look further into Switzer would be John Hawkins !

Populism, how the self selected “elites” of politics dismiss those whose heads they carelessly tread on, on their way to the top.

You are right Claire, he is an interesting character.

    Abetz conveniently left out:

    We believe in Honesty

    We believe in Integrity

We believe in promoting within the Party those who have Ability, Honesty and Integrity

We believe in doing our best to promote the best interests of those we purport to represent

    ………………..

He left them out because he doesn’t believe in them. And the others listed in the article only apply when they suit the individual.

And for the inevitable accusation of me being a greenie etc, please note the first time I voted was for Bob Menzies and then Holt and McMahon subsequently (my mother went to school with Black Jack McEwen) but Whitlam changed the dynamics and the LNP has progressively vacated the Menzies principles such that the coalition has destroyed the Menzies vision, not only nationally but in ALL States.

    SHAME!
