Rise in Firearm Incidents Confirms Need to Maintain Strong Gun Laws

The Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management’s Annual Report recorded 73 firearm incidents last year. That’s an increase on the previous three-year average.

This increase in firearms being used as a weapon or discharged unlawfully is alarming.

There are clearly more firearms in the community or individuals more willing to use them. This only confirms the need to maintain Tassmania’s strong gun laws

In a state with strong gun laws, 73 firearms incidents is a lot.  It shows just how important it is to hold the line against a lobby seeking to weaken them.

When it comes to firearms, community safety must come first, and strong gun laws are critical to that.
