Protesters Call for Boycott of Girl Guides Australia

Women Speak Tasmania has held a street protest against Girl Guides Australia’s recently released policy that allows biological male persons, both boys and adult men, to join the organisation as members and leaders – see https://www.guidelinesforgirlguides.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/GGA-Diversity-and-Inclusion-Guidance-APPROVED-03-06-2018.pdf .

Thursday 11 October 2018 was International Day of the Girl Child.  Girls and their parents should be aware that an organisation that has provided safe opportunities and experiences for girls for over a century is now opening their doors to male-bodied people.

Women Speak Tasmania are calling on parents and the community to boycott Girl Guides Australia until the policy is opened up for proper consultation.

Female members and their parents will not be advised if a male member joins their unit.  Parents will be denied the opportunity to make an informed choice when seeking an all-female organisation for their child.

This policy has slipped under the radar, avoiding any broader discussion of the potential impact on the rights of girls to a female only space.

A similar policy for Girl Guides in the UK has led to public opposition from a number of current and former Girl Guide unit leaders –

‘In April, 224 current and former unit leaders, volunteers and parents signed an open letter saying the new equality and diversity policy “poses safeguarding risks, reinforces gender stereotypes and denies informed parental consent”.

Two unit leaders have recently been expelled from Girl Guides UK, and their units have been disbanded, because they expressed concerns about the trans policy – see https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/girl-guide-leaders-expelled-for-questioning-trans-policy-550x7m55r.

This is a personal issue for many women, young and old, who have enjoyed mastering new skills and forging friendships in a secure female-only environment.  Seeing Girl Guides Australia compromise its core purpose in the name of trans inclusivity saddens them enormously.

Girl Guides Australia must review this policy and conduct a full and transparent consultation with all their members about how to best secure and protect the rights of girls in the organisation.

Ah yes, nothing like reverse sexism. Females have invaded “male turf” in the name of equality, squealing like stuck piggies about male “discrimination” .. and now that the shoes is on the other foot they prove they are not really that different from the “other gender” after all. Excuse me but … I’m laughing!

Thanks Isla, for that absolutely fascinating retailing of what is a methodology for hijacking the language of benign compassion and inclusion for a systematic attack on the primacy, validity and legitimacy of why we are all here at all, which is to grow old enough to partner and create and mentor into adulthood our descendants in order to maintain the survival of the species.

All the rest is just sexistentialist (I am my ‘sexuality’) bluff and baloney, and colour and movement, put out by a deregulatory agents of capital to commodify sex as a consumer product in the interests of accelerating production and consumption beyond the ordinary functions of real needs and wants, and into the realm of fantasy … and particularly sexual fantasy.

The lobby that is putting out this excruciating ideological double talk about sex and gender is part of a general attack on having any boundaries at all. This is to facilitate a consumer society which has had all its social software and independent reasoning faculties torn out to create mass populations who have lost all inhibition, and who are therefore totally susceptible to any suggestion and will buy anything as soon as their buttons get pressed.

And the best measure I know to expose these ideological succubi, is to compare their capacity to get leverage out Indulgence Capitalism (that uses indulgence as a mechanism to undermine social rules based behaviour and boundaries) compared with people who can’t, but should be.

The gender lobby that Isla and Bronwyn are attacking is getting leverage from the deregulation of the social system and the privatisation of its interests in favour of individual egoism which was seriously rolled out in the 1960s in order to facilitate the further ‘freeing up’ of consumer/social behaviour in favour of spontaneous reactivity to marketed prompts and sensory stimulation.

All the gender benders have to do is leverage off boundary hostile liberty-as-indulgence and rights-as-consumer entitlement, then persuade us in the same way, as the ‘Fox With No Tail’ did in Aesop’s cautionary tale about persuasion and conformity, on the importance and coolness of tailnessness as a gold standard for foxy identity. And it works for the same reasons that the tobacco and fossil fuel lobbies ‘work’, namely to control the architecture of discourse through ‘doublethink’ (meaning conflation) ‘hollowthink’ (meaningless cliches and slogans) ‘causalthink’ (reversing cause and effect) and ‘sciencethink’ (pseudo scientific ideology and use of its jargon). The rest is history … as they say.

The deregulatory agenda of Indulgence capitalism is open for business for any interest group that synchronizes with that master agenda, which is why women and feminist activists have got almost nowhere in the last 50 years other than to see their agenda being gobbled by the deregulators. This has turned women into commodified sexual objects and servants-on-demand as fodder for the conversion of freedom into disinhibition in a free-for-all where anything goes and anything does, and where women are the bait.

A feminist agenda wants to re-regulate and de-privatise the social system, and reconstruct it in ways that will profoundly alter the way the society and the economy work .. including slowing it down to make space for reestablishing our broken social infrastructure. There is absolutely no chance of that happening under the aegis of Indulgence Capitalism. It does not provide leverages for that, which is why ‘repressive’ re-regulatory and ‘authoritarian’ de-privatised accountability messages never seem to get anywhere.

The only people who, right now, have mechanisms to bulldoze their way through Indulgence Capitalism, are the militant arms of Islam. After the collapse of socialism, we secular non religious types were left with nothing to replace it with. ‘Progressivism’ was promptly sucked into the deregulatory maw as an ideological instrument of capital, and rewarded for its excellent work by being given control of the system of social administration and its bureaucracies; you know, jobs for libertarian humanities graduate deregulators in education, social welfare, health, slabs of the law and the political system .. ho hum.

Knowing why one’s agenda never seems to quite make it into the mainstream is a start. One ceases to be a mystified dorkasaur who is prone to regularly having the carpet pulled out from under one, and never able to figure it out .. or join the dots.

Thanks for your warm words, Joanna. And thanks for the invitation to join the WST. I am an essayist and poet who likes nothing better than to sit in front of a computer and write. I can be dragged away, but I need a special reason to join a group. Isla and I have regular conversations. She tells me that some of her friends have ‘difficulty’ with some of my views; particularly my hostility to the Off Message Gender Indulgence & Licence lobby (OMG-ILL) rip off what is left of marriage and the right to adopt.

I don’t have a problem with homosexuals as long as they treat the sexual mainstream with respect and leave reproductive politics to reproductively engaged individuals. The whole point of reproductive institutions is to model to its social product (children) what it means to be a man and woman, husband and wife and father and mother, over an entire reproductive cycle, so that they can in their turn pass on those qualities to their descendants. That is fundamental species behaviour.

I am very concerned that this OMG-ILL colonisation of marriage was possible because reproductive gender politics have become such a mess and its institutional arrangements so unstable, violence and sexual malfeasance prone, any opportunist can now invade the space. And I understand that a lesbian relationship, is for some women, the only way they can get an equitable partnership where they are less likely to get ripped off.

What really needs to be fixed is the status of women and training men to collaborate in the project for raising it.

As things stand, my view is that Muslim women get more respect and dignity than their secular counterparts who have been turned, as the late lamented Sheik Hilali once said, into ‘cat’s meat’. The sexual revolution turned femininity and womanhood into a consumer commodity to be exploited on demand in relationships that are as alienated as capital-proletariat production. relationships, as identified by Marx and Engels in the nineteenth century.

Production side alienation has been exported into the consumer side with the roll out of Indulgence Capitalism in the 1960s. And I think that the OMG-ILL mob have capitalised on that, and the deregulatory politics it brings with it, in ways that will eventually blow up in their faces once the mainstream gets its dentures back …

And I am conscious as I say this of a somewhat odd sensation of saying something that is as confronting for feminists as it is supportive. Hence the ambiguity of Isla’s feminist friends …

Parents of Girl Guides need to know that under the new edict from the top, their daughters are no longer just ‘GIRLS’ but ‘cis girls’.

The use of appropriate language is an important way of exercising respect for any person that you are speaking about or to. Posture, approach, tone of voice, body language and facial expression also contribute to your message. Be aware of your own approach in The GG policy clearly designed to be understood immediately!:

Communicating with Members and non-members when dealing with transgender issues. Speak with respect, kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Gender is only one aspect of a person’s identity and it is important not to use gender or any other aspect of identity to label a person. Definitions are provided below to assist Members and non-members to understand commonly used terminology elating to gender diversity:

Cisgender:a person whose gender identity aligns with their biological sex (eg, a person who is biologically female and identifies as a woman)

Gender dysphoria: a psychological term used to describe the incongruence between a transgender person’s physical sex and how they wear clothes, their hairstyle, activities they participate in, etc.

Gender identity: a person’s sense of their gender as being female, male, or neither.
Gender identity may or may not align with the person’s biological sex.

Gender nonconforming: a person whose expression of gender differs from stereotypical expectations of their gender, eg a female dressing in “male” clothes. How this is understood differs in different cultures.

Intersex:a person who has any of several variations in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, sex hormones or genitals that, according to the UNO ffice of the High Commissioner for Human Rights”do not fit the typical definitions for male or female bodies”. Inter sex people were previously referred to as hermaphrodites, but this term is no longer considered accurate or appropriate.

Neutral/ non-binary/gender fluid:used by individuals wishing to identify as outside of
the gender binary without specifying their gender. The most common pronouns used for neutral/non-binary/gender fluid persons are them and they.

#10 … It is very sad that Girl Guides are no longer interested in talking about the best interests of GIRLS. People are not born into a ‘gender’. Gender is socially constructed. Humans are born either male or female or intersex. Children are either male, female or intersex.

In the name of diversity, are all girl Guide Members being given guidance and encouragement to accept boys in GG and repeat the lie that a boy’s penis is a GIRL PENIS? Just whose identity is being protected here, and on what medical and scientific basis?

Girl Guide membership and staff have not been asked what they think about this anti-girl policy. Why not?

  7. Kade

    October 15, 2018 at 8:39 am

I find these comments very sad since we are talking about children here. I don’t think I know anyone this applies to, but a child who identifies as different from the gender they were born into must already have been through a very difficult time. How much of a threat can a child present to the Guides? How much more can the Guides’ membership gain and learn from being encouraged to recognise and accept diversity in our society, instead of rejecting anyone who doesn’t conform?

    • Simon Warriner

      October 15, 2018 at 7:08 pm

Encouraging a child to identify as anything other than either physical gender, until puberty has well and truly passed, could very well be argued as a quite perverse form of child abuse. I listened to a child psychologist on the ABC a couple of months ago iarguing that position quite vigorously. Nobody really knows how it will all turn out until the hormonal changes have worked through, and engaging in political actions around all this for any child until after that point is hardly sensible.

Male adults seeking to join Guides via their self identification as “Trans” or some other “gender” need to be told “No thanks” as politely as those responsible see fit. When child welfare versus equal opportunity for adults, child welfare wins hands down every time. if it doesn’t, we wind up needing Royal Commissions to apportion responsibility for bad things happening .. a lesson that should be fresh in every person’s memory!

      • Isla MacGregor

        October 15, 2018 at 7:54 pm

Yes Simon, you make some sensible points here. The notion that what is happening to children regarding trans ideology is just another form of child abuse is being widely discussed in the mental health sector and the community.

Boys and girls can join the Scouts.

    • Russell

      October 16, 2018 at 7:07 am

Why are “children” so confused they don’t know what gender they are, Kade? Could it be all the female hormones in their diets and vaccines?

Apart from that, why can’t Girl Guides be for GIRLS, and not wannabe ‘girls’ with dicks!

Please identify, publicly, the names of these perverts forcing these issues.

We need to deal with these people, not destroy girls’ and women’s safe spaces.

There are heaps of Trams crimes being committed against women and children in the US and Canada.

In Australia, years ago, they put a trans woman (a man in dress) in a women’s prison. He raped nine women. He had HIV.

Just search ‘trans bathroom crime’, ‘trans murder’ and ‘trans threats’.

Please list the individuals and the organisations attacking Guides.

The trans cult is a Trojan horse, sneaking (and bullying) its way into every female-only space. On the one hand, we are intentionally told trans-identified people are the world’s biggest victims, but they are perhaps the world’s biggest aggressors.

    Sneaky aggressors.

They guilt-trip their way into everything female that they want to appropriate and colonize. This significantly parallels the actions of male stalkers and other men who refuse to a accept the word “no” and respect female’s rights to have and set boundaries.

We never hear about trans rights activists (TRAs) complaining about employment or housing discrimination. It is solely about “discrimination”, ostensibly, of being kept out of female spaces into which they incessantly demand the right to intrude.

I hope the Guides will stand up to these bullies, and if they don’t, that their parents will create a new, separate organisation that is explicitly for girls .. biological girls (which I hate to say because it is redundant.)

I have to agree with you Ali. It seems there are a lot of transgender, etc. people identifying themselves as such just to infiltrate women’s organisations to bully or control them – a typically male trait.

The transgender people should start up their own little clubs so that they can bitch amongst themselves.

‘Non-binary/neutral/gender fluid persons’ is pretentious pseudo-scientific gobbledigook fed out by a ‘gender studies’ movement that looks remarkably similar to the late lamented eugenics based racial ‘science’.

Race science was once considered intellectually respectable and was taught in universities like Princeton in the early twentieth century. It took the rise of fascism to persuade thinkers and commentators at the time to start questioning its underlying assumptions.

Gender studies, like so much social and health ‘science’ has powerful underlying ideological assumptions, mores and conventions pre loaded and built in, which are not easily uncovered until after historical change ‘dates’ them, in the way that old films become ‘dated’. New assumptions, mores and conventions reveal the old ones.

In the meantime, gender studies and its transgen evangelists get away with mangling our gender culture through the sort of ‘network marketing’ that has gone on in the Girl Guides. It used to be called subversive colonization. And as with any subversion, it is not enough to merely try to fend it off. We have to go after it like Bronwyn and Isla are doing, because if we don’t, they will be all over us like a rash. Marketing is all about ‘initiative’, and the party that has that is running the agenda.

These lobbies exploit the language of equality, ‘discrimination’ and ‘inclusivity’ to bluff, fudge and crib their way past the critical faculties of increasingly mystified and bamboozled mass constituencies. And they get away with it because they have mastered the tobacco lobby obfuscation and manipulation handbook. It is now the standard communications methodology inside the almost entirely privatised and corporatised system of totalitarian discourse, that alters reasoning into marketed slogans, keywords, euphemisms, dysphemisms and stereotypes and then populates them with authoritative sounding spruikers throughout the architecture of media influence, to create the illusion of a ‘new wave’ of popular opinion.

You keep hearing about transgen ‘issues’ as if they were spontaneous irruptions out of the culture, when in fact what is really happening is the roll out of a co-ordinated Public Relations campaign run by an ‘unrepresentative swill’ of aggressive ‘activists’.

This in not particularly the transgen lobby’s fault, because they are just a working a system that offers any opportunist spruiker a very professional looking soapbox that can work a culture like a flock of sheep. And it has been put in place because the larger system in which we live is in the deregulation and privatisation business. Its agenda is to eliminate social boundaries in favour of delimited behaviour and sensibility that will buy anything

That means the realisation of the main objective of latter day capital, which is to eliminate ‘society’ in favour of marketing and sales. And it is a system that makes the totalitarianism of the twentieth century look clumsy and amateurish. Joseph Goebbels ‘descendants’ are far more dangerous people than he ever was.

      October 13, 2018 at 7:41 pm

      Such an interesting comment.

I see a different parallel between gender ideology and eugenics.

In practice, the transgen movement ‘cleanses’ the sexes of gender non-conforming individuals. Effeminate boys are recast as girls, and tomboys become ‘real’ boys. The sexed body is irrelevant – the child’s identity depends upon how closely he or she conforms to gender stereotypes.

Chilling. And if the UK is anything to go by, coming soon to a classroom near you …

Breaking up the organisation by those who wish to stir up trouble must not be allowed.

This is how Girl Guides policy has been worked to exclude some girls:

Q: What should I do if a Member wishes to identify as non-binary/neutral/gender fluid?
A: There is a wide spectrum of ways that people who identify as non-binary/neutral/gender
fluid live and therefore this issue may at first appear complex. GGA and SGGOs are
all – female organisations,i.e. they are explicitly female organisations, not ‘non-male’ organisations. As such GGA and SGGOs are not the right places for members who identify
as other than female. To support a person who is transitioning in this way you may want to
refer them to the resources listed above for support.

Non-binary/neutral/gender fluid persons may have a role as a support person, parent helper,
or activity leader on specific occasions, in accordance with the Supervision Ratios Policy.
