Gord’s Genuine Generosity

Canadian Australian recording artist Gord Bamford is disappointed his previous tours to Tasmania have been the customary in and out tour, especially since he has such a liking for Tassie, due in part to his great relationship with Tassie’s own Wolfe Brothers.

When we chatted recently, Gord told me of a couple of ambitions. One of which is to take his family on holiday to Tassie and see its ‘beautiful places”. His other aim is to bring his friends, the Wolfe Brothers to Canada to kick start their career in his other homeland.

Even though this coming tour will be a frenetic one Gord will no doubt find time to enjoy one of his favourite Tassie snacks, the fish and chips on the wharf.

While on this tour he will be bringing his own six piece band but in future tours he hopes to put together a totally Australian band to, he says give back to the country that has welcomed him and that he has in his blood.

Gord does literally have Australia in his blood because his dad is Australian. After his parent’s broke up Gord returned to Canada with his mum. Since that time Gord had reconnected with his dad who, Gord says, believes he has similar ‘vocal chops’ as his son! Which he may well find valuable in his new profession as a pastor! Gord is also enjoying time with his Australian siblings including two Aussie brothers and sisters.

With an Australian passport Gord intends to continue to cement his place in Australia’s music scene and believes his music, which he calls’ blue collar music,’ appeals to Australians just like Lee Kernighan  and The Wolf Brother’s music does.

Gord will return to Australia in 2019 to perform at Tamworth but before that you can see Gord this week at a number of venues in Tasmania:
