Fullers Bookshop: Chloe Hooper, The Arsonist

AUTHOR EVENT: Chloe Hooper, The Arsonist
Fullers Bookshop, 131 Collins Street, Hobart, 7000
Friday 19 October 2018, 17.30 – 18.30pm

Chloe will be discussing her new book, The Arsonist

On the scorching February day in 2009 that became known as Black Saturday, a man lit two fires
in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley, then sat on the roof of his house to watch the inferno. From the
author of the bestselling and brilliant Tall Man comes a true-life thriller. The Arsonist traces the
events of that day, the hunt for the man responsible, and the strange puzzle of his mind. It also
reveals the place of fire in our country, how essential it is, and the need to understand, engage
with, and protect against it.

With bushfire season approaching this is a relevant time to consider how our government is
preparing for bushfire prevention in Tasmania and whether the approach adequately addresses
the psychological issues that lead a person to commit the crime of arson.
