Glenorchy City Council held a special meeting at Council Chambers, 374 Main Road, Glenorchy tonight, Monday, 20 August 2018, at 6pm. The purpose of the special meeting was for Council to:
• consider submissions and objections lodged in respect of Council’s proposal to dispose of public land (the Derwent Entertainment Centre) under section 178 of the Local Government Act 1993, and
• make a decision on whether to take any action under section 178 of the Act (i.e. whether to dispose of the Derwent Entertainment Centre).
Glenorchy City Council Mayor Kristie Johnston said Council voted in favour of disposing of the Derwent Entertainment Centre.
“Tonight’s meeting was to work through and evaluate the decision on whether to let the DEC go. A later meeting will determine the matter of when, who to, and on what terms a sale would be agreed to,” she said.
“Tonight’s decision has given us the option to go ahead with a sale or leasing but it does not force us to either sell or lease.
