Tas Water is charging you for your water and services to get it to your household.
Under Section 4 article 100 of the Australian Constitution and I quote:- The Commonwealth shall not, and by any law or regulation of trade or commerce abridge the right of a State or of the residents therein to the reasonable use of the waters of rivers for conservation or irrigation.
If the Commonwealth Laws supersede State Laws then this would mean that Tas Water is illegally charging people for water, as under the Constitution of Australia we have a right to free water use from rivers, and that water is coming from the Derwent River.
I don’t mind if Tas Water charges us for cleaning and getting the water to the community, as there is a cost involved, but to charge us for water that under the Constitution is free, and they have not manufactured, is nothing short of criminal in my opinion.
With that in mind, I will be expecting a cheque in the mail for the water that they have charged me for, and can you please remove your water meter from my premises, thank you.
