Thank you.
It was interesting to read he secured U.S. funding for the plebiscite which ended dictator Pinochet’s rule … also noting the similarities between the Argentine dictatorship in more ways than one.
The “disappeared” (victims kidnapped, tortured and murdered whose bodies were disappeared by the military government) included those thought to be politically or ideologically a threat to the military junta, even vaguely, or contrary to the plan of neoliberal economic policies dictated by Operation Condor. They were killed in an attempt by the junta to silence the social and political opposition.

The truth is always arrived at by considering many perspectives. Certainly more than one perspective is required. This one is far enough removed from the first to give a bit of depth to the image being formed in the reader’s mind.

I have not devoted enough time to hold a firm view myself, but I do see that there are some very deeply held negative views held by his countrymen of this individual and his actions . I would urge wide reading to properly understand someone whose life has created some of the most polarised views I have ever come across.

May He Rest in Peace.
