• Health Minister must be compelled to tell the truth
• If Ferguson disclosed private medical information Premier must act
Michael Ferguson’s refusal today to deny that he disclosed private medical information in the Cricket Australia sacking scandal must force Premier Hodman to act and establish an independent investigation.
Labor Leader Rebecca White said when asked today if he had disclosed personal medical details about former Cricket employee Angela Williamson leading to her dismissal, Michael Ferguson would not confirm or deny the allegation.
“Ms Williamson herself has alleged Health Minister Michael Ferguson was the culprit who revealed her personal medical information to her former employer,” Ms White said.
“For days now Michael Ferguson has been avoiding answering this critical question, today he has not denied it was him and it’s now time for Premier Hodgman to admit that the investigation he himself claims to have undertaken was just inadequate and sloppy.
“It’s not good enough for Premier Hodgman and Michael Ferguson to investigate themselves and then try and sweep this under the carpet and hope it goes away.
“The only way to get to the bottom of this important issue – and to understand if Michael Ferguson has not just acted inappropriately but potentially broken the law by sharing private medical details – is to establish a full, comprehensive and independent investigation.”
