Glenorchy City Council and Baptcare are hosting free National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) sessions for the community Wednesday 23 May 2018 at 3pm then again at 7pm at Moonah Arts Centre.
The sessions include information on what the NDIS is and how it works, accessing the NDIS, who can get the NDIS and what people can do to prepare an application.
People living with a disability and those caring for people living with a disability are encouraged to attend the hour and a half long sessions.
Baptcare Local Area Coordinators will be presenting the information, which will be followed with question and answer time.
Glenorchy City Council Access Officer Elisa Ryan said the Council Access Committee was keen to see this happen and Baptcare have a representative on the committee so helped create this valuable event.
“We expect over 30 people to attend the sessions but would like to see many more who could benefit from this information,” she said.
The roll out of the NDIS will expand on July 1st to include 0 – 3 year olds as well as 35 -49 year olds therefore more people in the community may be eligible and have this opportunity to learn more about how to apply, eligibility and more.

Moonah Arts Centre will be hosting a screening of ‘The Ride’ on the same night, an award winning Australian Documentary about four men with disabilities travelling the outback. The screening is from 5.30 to 7pm and tickets are $5 at the door.
