• A significant rain event looks likely across eastern and southern Tasmania on Thursday and Friday as a complex low pressure system approaches southeast Australia.
• A Flood Watch will be issued for the eastern half of Tasmania later this morning and flood warnings will be issued if/when required at www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings/
• Southern and eastern Tasmania are expected to receive 30-60 mm rainfall on Thursday.
• Friday is likely to see the highest rainfall with 50-100 mm across the eastern and central parts of the state with some elevated areas possibly receiving over 120 mm.
• There is the possibility of localised flash flooding due to heavy rainfall.
• Highest rainfall totals for Saturday are around 10-15 mm in the south of the state.
• Due to the nature of the complex low, models are showing uncertainty in the final forecast rainfall. Rainfall amounts are likely to change over the coming days as the position of the low becomes more certain.
• Tasmania will see snow above 1000 metres on Thursday.
• Friday is likely to have strong to gale force south to southeasterly winds, which may be potentially damaging. Any warnings required will be issued at www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings/
