Guardian: Call for national inquiry into protection of indigenous children

This report is emblematic of everything that is wrong with the white liberal regime and its now 50-60 year track record in the aboriginal administration business.

The helpless-poor-blackfella-my-narrative is basically a series of blame shifting excuses why protracted white liberal ideology and administration has made life much worse in aboriginal communities than it was in 1970, when at least with paternalism and missionaries, there was some semblance of order.

The assertion that white humanist liberals have delivered democratic freedom and rights is a myth. What they have delivered is licence and indulgence, because the responsible social and moral agency, the accompanying suite of obligations and training to meet them and the resultant autonomous social empowerment that gives life to liberty and rights, were missing.

What they delivered to aboriginal communities was a liberation suite with all the internal control mechanisms torn out. And whatever was left of aboriginal society promptly started to sink. All the indicators of dysfunction and malfeasance went through the roof and what little well-being and security there was disappeared with the winds of change.

The takeover of aboriginal administration by white liberals was a very nasty and self-indulgent social experiment that empowered nobody except the mostly all but white administrators, who were let loose into the aboriginal industry with huge budgets that disappeared like water in the Simpson desert, with no discernable benefits except their own security and stipends … and the promise that their grandchildren and those of their emerging all-but-white petty bourgeois raised and educated metrobiginal accomplices, will be doing the same stuff, with the same outcomes and making the same miserable excuses, in another 200 years.

They have made a real hash of aboriginal society and have become extremely adept at blame shifting that everywhere else except where it now primarily belongs … them … and their hapless aboriginal clients, who have been kept as chaotic dysfunctional ideological pets and allowed to acquire some really terrible habits under the aegis of the liberal narrative owners, that are going to take years to fix once those ideological masters have been unceremoniously removed … and discredited.

And when the wretched aboriginal communities get those white and just off-white pricks off their backs, they are going to have to have a little think about what they need to do to become competent and robust modern citizens in a multicultural society that is no longer prepared to indulge their lost territorial and cultural fantasies, insists on committed participation in the modern world and makes it crystal clear that if they aren’t prepared to move, the dominant society will make absolutely sure their children do, one way or another, even if it costs several arms and legs, because getting it right is cheap in the long run.

Modernizing is always a big compromise for traditional societies, but almost everybody has had to do it at some point. If people try to port too much of the past into a vision of the future they will overload themselves and not make the distance. If they don’t take anything, they will lack the balancing mechanism necessary to traverse what sometimes must feel like a risky high wire journey with a long way to fall and no safety net.

It is always a difficult and fraught journey and reluctance to make it is as understandable as is the absolute insistence that it must be made.
