United States senators have questioned Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, who testified before Congress after revelations of mass privacy breaches at the social media giant.
Speaking before a joint hearing of the Senate commerce and judiciary committees, Zuckerberg said “we didn’t take a broad enough view of our responsibility, and that was a big mistake. I started Facebook, I run it, and I’m responsible for what happens here”. Lawmakers criticised Facebook’s conduct, with Florida Democratic senator Bill Nelson warning “if you and other social media companies do not get your act in order, none of us are going to have privacy anymore …”
