The Hodgman Government yesterday announced the first step of their Plan to employ 250 additional teachers, inviting collaboration with the AEU and other bodies, through roundtables and the DoE Workforce Strategy.
AEU President, Helen Richardson said the invitation for collaboration is a very welcome first step from the Hodgman Government.
“Schools and colleges urgently need additional staff to meet the needs of students and injecting 250 additional teachers will go some way to resolve many issues in public education in Tasmania,” said Ms Richardson.
“It is encouraging to see the Government showing a willingness to implement part of our Quality Education plan.
“We would like to see all aspects of our Quality Education plan implemented, as we know from our members that this is what is desperately needed in education,” said Ms Richardson” said Ms Richardson.
