A boil drinking water alert has been put in place for consumers in South Hobart

TasWater is currently working to resolve water quality issues detected during routine sampling
of the water supply.
The area affected is customers in South Hobart serviced by the Arthur Street Water Supply. The boil
water alert has been put in place following consultation with the Department of Health and Human
Services (DHHS).
The sample containing evidence of E. coli was just one of several tests taken from a range of locations
across South, West and North Hobart. All other samples returned results consistent with the water
meeting Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
Follow-up testing is being carried out with TasWater investigating all possible sources of the
contamination.
TasWater’s priority is the health and safety of the community and therefore as a precaution a localised
boil water alert has been put in place with impacted customers being notified that all water used for
drinking and food preparation needs to be boiled.
Information on the boil water alert is available on the TasWater website www.taswater.com.au or call
136992.
