Home affairs minister Peter Dutton is considering allowing an immigration “fast-track” for white South African farmers applying for visas.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph yesterday, Dutton said “the people we’re talking about want to work hard, they want to contribute to a country like Australia”, and that “people who want to come here, abide by our laws, integrate into our society, work hard, not lead a life on welfare” deserved “special attention”. Dutton’s comments came as a Tamil asylum seeker family was saved from deportation to Sri Lanka by a last-minute legal intervention
