BLUES BREWS AND BARBECUES to return to Hobart Brewing Co. MARCH 24th/25th

Now in its second year, Hobart Brewing Co. are hosting Tassie’s biggest Blues lineup and
Barbecue Competition. A BBQ Competition and music festival all rolled into one!

The Hobart waterfront brewery will host 13 Australasian BBQ Alliance sanctioned teams as they battle it out
over two days for over $7,000 in cash, trophies and prizes.

The HBC Brewers will also be busy releasing their festival beer, a Maple Bacon Brown Ale,

as well as smoking malted barley on the fire pit for the annual brewing of their Smoked Apple Bock.

There will be 21 acts playing across two stages as well as some of Tassie’s best BBQ chefs and food trucks. Local BBQ and cider
maker legend Jimi Anderson competes in barbecue competitions in Tasmania and interstate as
part of one of the favourites, The Smoking Joint, and says competitive barbecuing in Tasmania
is growing rapidly.

“Competitions interstate and overseas are absolutely huge, with tens of
thousands of dollars in prizes and major sponsorship deals up for grabs. There’s a growing
movement for sure, and the atmosphere between teams is competitive but at the end of the day,
we just love barbecuing and having a laugh.”

Catch some of Hobart’s best chefs battle it out with some of the barbecue teams in a fun comp
on the Saturday afternoon.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with this year’s line-up of inspiring Tassie talent and blues legends,
head in early to make sure you nab bean bag/chair/table space!

SMOKED MAPLE BACON BROWN ALE

In addition to the usual 8-10 beers on tap in the taproom, Hobart Brewing Co. Brewers will be
releasing this unique beer. The brewers added smoked bacon and maple syrup to the brewing
tanks to create a delicious brown ale. Head down and have a chat to the Brewers, they’ll be
gathered around the fire pit again smoking malted barley for the annual Smoked Apple Bock
brewing . ++ 8 food vendors will be cooking alongside the BBQ competitors providing a variety of
delicious smoked and barbecued food.
