• A wet end to the week is expected with statewide rainfall forecast for Friday and continuing across the weekend, with possible heavy falls and isolated thunderstorms.
• The rainfall will be generated by an approaching front moving into western parts during tonight, before crossing the state and stalling as a low pressure system over the weekend.
• This weather system will also herald an end to the run of hot weather with winds tending cooler southeasterly behind the front dropping temperatures.
• Three day rainfall totals from Friday to Sunday of 50mm are expected across most of Tasmania, with some locations receiving over 100mm.
• A Flood Watch has been issued for the North Esk and South Esk River basins and the Huon River in response to the forecast rainfall. The public is urged to keep up-to-date with the evolving weather situation over the weekend.
