The facts are Mr Conway was selected by then Education Minister Nick McKim, and formally appointed by the then Premier Lara Giddings.
Labor can run, but they can’t hide.
Mr Conway resigned from his position after being advised his contract wouldn’t be renewed, thereby avoiding a code of conduct investigation. Under the contract, upon resigning in these circumstances, Mr Conway was entitled to the payout in question.
Lara Giddings has some explaining to do. Given Labor is so opposed to the payout, Ms Giddings needs to explain why she signed the contract that led to the payout in the first place.
We can’t pick and choose when we will and won’t honour legally binding contracts, the law just doesn’t work that way. Labor is making excuses to cover up their embarrassment.
