After three resignations, three months of constitutional uncertainty, three days of hearings and countless bewildering legal arguments from One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts, the High Court is due to hand down its verdict in the “citizenship seven” case this afternoon.

The court will give its ruling about the eligibility of seven parliamentarians at 2.15pm, with deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce the most senior politician whose fate will be decided by the outcome. The coalition faces a byelection in Joyce’s New England seat if he is disqualified because of dual nationality, potentially stripping the government of its one-seat majority in the House of Representatives.”
