 Disappointing decision from the Federal Court
 Thousands of Tasmanian workers will keep losing pay they deserve
 Only Labor will reverse the cuts

Confirmation that the decision to cut the penalty rates of thousands of Tasmanians will not be reversed is extremely disappointing.

Labor Leader Rebecca White joined campaigners on Parliament’s lawns today and said she had hoped workers were going to get a reprieve in the Federal Court.

“This is another blow to some of Tasmania’s lowest paid workers,” Ms White said.

“We were hoping the Federal Court might rule in the favour of the unions who were standing up for workers.

“Labor will never stop fighting for penalty rates, whether it’s to reverse the current cuts to retail and hospitality workers, or against future attempts by the Liberals to claw back more entitlements.

“The Liberals have put their hands into the pockets of some of Tasmania’s lowest paid workers and made it harder for them to make a living.

“Labor governments in Tasmania and Canberra will reverse the cuts to penalty rates and support workers.”
