This Saturday 28th October from 2-4pm at The Annexe Theatre, Launceston a cast of people of diverse abilities will share their imaginations and dance moves. This open studio showing is the first integrated dance project undertaken by Stompin Youth Dance Company.

Over the past nine weeks Stompin, Launceston’s nationally esteemed contemporary dance company for young people, have been working with Able Australia’s Younger Persons Program to deliver a workshop series all about using contemporary dance to express individual creativity.

Local professional dancer and Tasdance Company member Gabriel Comerford has lead the inclusive project involving Able Australia staff, participants living with a range of complex intellectual disabilities and Stompin dancers.

The project also welcomed Australia’s leading integrated dance specialist Philip Channells and Creative Director of Hobart’s ability diverse physical theatre ensemble Second Echo as guest artists and workshop leaders.

Stompin and Able Australia are very excited to share their process at the showing this weekend and welcome all to celebrate the participant’s hard work.
