When I go to Adelaide for the International Astronautics Congress, lasting all next week, I will be watching out for opportunities for Tasmania, for education, for careers, for business, for tourism, for recreation, and even for culture ~

I am fascinated to see that the South Australian Government has produced a ~

Would it be a good idea for the Tasmanian Government to produce a document like this?
Would it be a good idea for Tasmania to host an annual seminar and trade fair to bring a focus to the opportunities that can be created in Tasmania with space development, which is a global growth industry.
If Tasmania can build ferries for any place on Earth, and service those ferries from Tasmania, we can also engage with space opportunities.
If we can create space work in Tasmania, we can create exciting careers in this State, instead of young people sailing off to places like Huntsville, Alabama, also called Space City, where space camps are held, and many space careers are forged.
I will be producing a report upon my return, and share this with Tasmania’s politicians.
I hope they will be interested.

“The South Australian Government says it wants to capitalise on the fast-growing multi-billion dollar business around space, announcing the creation of a South Australian Space Industry Centre. The Government said the centre (SASIC) would help to fuel space industry innovation, encourage start-ups and create high-tech jobs. The announcement comes ahead of the International Astronautical Congress which is being held in Adelaide next week, with some of the largest space agencies and companies — including NASA and SpaceX — to be in attendance. “We know that the space industry in this country and around the world is growing at about three times the rate of growth [of] the rest of the growth in the world economy,” Premier Jay Weatherill said. “The eyes of the world will be on South Australia next week.” The congress is expected to attract 3,500 delegates from across the world, including some very high-profile guests. “At the end of the week, we’ll also hear from Elon Musk. He’ll update [us] in relation to his Mars program,” the Premier said.”
Momentum builds for Australian space agency ahead of International Astronautical Congress

“In the three-and-a-half years since astronaut Andrew Thomas publicly urged Australia to play a leading role in space tourism, the idea has struggled to get off the ground. Despite prominent calls to develop our own space agency, including from Dr Thomas himself, a federal review into that proposal is not expected to be ready for another six months. But the campaign is likely to get another boost at next week’s 68th International Astronautical Congress, which is being held in Adelaide for the first time. “I hope Australia will seize the opportunity and start participating deeply,” Adelaide-born Dr Thomas said. “The political will to do it is slowly growing. We’re not there yet. The space sector worldwide is something like $400 billion and it’s growing at 8 per cent a year. We need to make a very sound business case for it.”” ~ FILM
