Human Services Minister can’t explain why she misled parliament
Statement puts Jacquie Petrsuma directly at odds with her own department
Human Services Minister Jacquie Petrusma has provided no proof to counter the clear evidence she misled parliament over the Safe Pathways child protection scandal.
Shadow Minister for Child Safety Josh Willie said the Minister’s first public statement in more than a month raised more questions than answers.
“There is clear, written evidence that the Minister misled parliament,” Mr Willie said.
“The Department of Human Services told her it could not give an assurance that all children in the care of Safe Pathways were safe. The Minister misled parliament by stating the opposite.
“The Minister cannot provide any evidence that disputes the fact she misled parliament.
“Jacquie Petrusma’s claim of receiving other “verbal” advice reeks of political desperation.
“Who provided the conflicting advice?
“By denying she misled the Parliament, the Minister is directly contradicting her own Department. That disconnect is completely untenable.
“Jacquie Petrusma’s story simply doesn’t add up. It’s time for the Premier to act and remove the Minister from her important role.”
