URGE SUPPORTERS TO FOCUS ON WINNING THE VOTE

Equality advocates have condemned reported egging of the Australian Christian Lobby office in Canberra and have called on supporters of marriage equality to focus on winning the proposed postal vote if it goes ahead.

Just.equal spokesperson, Ivan Hinton-Teoh, said,

“There is no room for abuse, attacks or vandalism in the marriage equality debate and we condemn it no matter who is responsible.”

“We urge supporters of marriage equality to devote their energy to enrolling young voters, ensuring ballots are returned and winning the case for reform.”

“To bring the Australian community with us on this journey, we must demonstrate maturity and responsibility with a campaign focussed on love and commitment, not vandalism.”

“Rather than throw eggs, supporters need to have conversations with their friends, family and colleagues to increase understanding about why this reform is so important.”
