Following a formal tender process, Tasmanian firm Wise Lord and Ferguson (WLF) has been appointed as the independent auditor for TasTAFE.
The 12-month audit will investigate issues identified in the Integrity Commission report, including internal policies and protocols relating to referral and approval of remuneration and positional classification changes, recruitment and selection processes and selection panel protocols.
The audit will also investigate the use of Tasmanian Government credit cards as well as TasTAFE’s travel and entertainment policy.
Issues raised by the Australian Education Union and individual TasTAFE staff have been passed on to the auditors and will form part of the investigation.
The Government’s focus, as always, is on the future of TasTAFE. As Tasmania’s public training provider and the state’s largest training provider, this organisation provides the skills needed for our growing workforce which is integral to this State’s future.
I thank the TasTAFE staff for their commitment during what has been a difficult time for them.
Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Education and Training
