The Government is a strong supporter of Tasmania’s growing screen industry as it supports jobs and showcases Tasmania on the world stage.
Screen Tasmania’s Strategic Plan 2017-2021 has now been released, which sets in place the goals and framework to grow the screen sector in Tasmania.
Alongside the recently released Screen Industry Workforce Development Plan, the Strategic Plan builds on the Cultural and Creative Industries Strategy with a focus on consolidating the sector’s growing success and ensuring its sustainability and longevity.
The 2017-18 Budget demonstrates our commitment to the sector with $7.5 million going to Screen Tasmania over the forward estimates, which includes $300,000 for the second season of Rosehaven.
Recent productions such as Lion, The Kettering Incident, Rosehaven, and the landmark indigenous animated children’s series Little J & Big Cuz demonstrate that Tasmania has the skills, stories and landscape to support a thriving screen industry, and the Strategic Plan will provide a blueprint to continue strong growth into the future.
