Businesses and clubs facing significant power price increases
Minister Groom promised relief but has been silent since
Shadow Minister for Energy Scott Bacon said an increasing number of businesses and not-for-profit organisations are facing an increase in power prices.
“Matthew Groom promised medium-sized businesses $20 million for power price relief in May but we’ve heard nothing over the last two months,” Mr Bacon said.
“Who is eligible for relief and when will the Government step in and help?
“Business owners and not-for-profit organisations are contacting Labor over the impact on increasing power prices.
“Fee increases for some club members are being attributed to the cost of power going up.
“Matthew Groom gave Tasmanians the impression that the Government was prepared to cap the cost of power but it’s turned out to be a hollow promise.
“Labor calls on the Minister to come out and explain how the Government is assisting businesses and organisations offset the cost of energy cost increases.”
