Dr Mick Pope will speak in Launceston on climate change at two meetings in July.

Mick Pope is a trainer at the Bureau of Meteorology in Melbourne specialising in tropical meteorology, climate variability and change.

He is also a regular speaker and lecturer, author, blogger and contributor to journals on climate change, environmental issues and how science and faith interact.

From 6pm on Sunday 16 July Dr Pope will speak on Climate Change and the Gospel – why and how the Christian faith responds to climate change. The evening will commence with a shared light dinner. This evening is one of a number of occasional meetings each year developing a ‘public theology’.

From 7pm on Monday 17 July Dr Pope will bring up-to–the-minute information on climate science and our best understanding of the likely economic, social and political implications of catastrophic global warming.

The Monday meeting is one of a series of regular evenings providing opportunity for respectful public discourse on the big issues of our day.

Both evenings will be free of charge and will be held in the historic City Baptist Church at 11 Frederick Street (facing Princes Square). There will be opportunity for Q&A. Everyone is welcome to both evenings.
