• Move comes after Liberals rejected AMA and Labor calls for inquiry
• Legislative Council right to investigate health system failing under Ferguson
• Public and professionals to be able to share their experiences
Labor Leader Rebecca White has welcomed the inquiry into Tasmania’s health service announced by the Legislative Council.
“The Liberal Government arrogantly knocked back calls for an inquiry from the Australian Medical Association and Labor earlier this year,” Ms White said.
“Tasmanians know the health system is in crisis despite constant denials from Minister Michael Ferguson.
“Even the Premier Will Hodgman admitted there’s a health crisis in Tasmania during Budget Estimates.
“An inquiry will give health professionals and the wider public the chance to share their experiences of a hospital system under enormous pressure.
“Perhaps then the Government will understand the magnitude of the crisis.”
