Junction Arts Festival is yet another great event growing in appeal and attracting visitors to Tasmania, and we’re supporting it to help it to grow.
We are pleased to provide $1.25 million to support the festival through until 2021.
We recognise the significance of this regional multi-arts festival, which highlights performances and art installations in unusual spaces throughout Launceston.
Our support also recognises Junction’s place in Tasmania’s rich event calendar as well as the projected growth in visitation it will bring to Launceston in a traditionally quiet month.
Tasmania’s ongoing appeal as a destination relies upon the type of creativity, imagination and innovation that the Junction Arts Festival captures.
Its unique approach of bringing audience members and community groups to centre stage with professional performers and arts works is proving popular.
It is events like the Junction Arts Festival that will encourage people to travel to our state, which will help reach our Government’s target of attracting 1.5 million visitors per year by 2020.
The festival runs for five days and nights beginning on 6 September.
