Thousands of people have already bought tickets to this year’s festival, which features some of Huon Valley’s best crafters as well as pagan-inspired music and entertainment. After the huge success of the inaugural arts & craft line-up in 2016, Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival July 14-16, will once again create a gallery space for festival punters to get their craft on.

Held at Willie Smith’s Apple Shed in Grove, Huon Valley Tasmania, it is the perfect location to experience and celebrate the talented and vibrant artists of Tasmania and the valley. Hugely popular Bruce Trappes from Devils Guitars will be back to entertain everyone with his eclectic mix of guitars and other sound making oddities made from cigar boxes and other recycled materials. This year you might even catch a glimpse of his Flaming Piano!

The festival is thrilled to be introducing a number of new and exciting artists this year such as Cygnet blacksmith Richard Willing who will be crafting on the spot with his live blacksmith display. Also, debuting this year is the delightful Jardine Botanic with pagan inspired flower crowns, Ian Clare Potter Studio with his artisan ceramics and Macrame Tralala with handcrafted jewellery made from Tasmanian semiprecious stones.

Dr Spork will be back with his funky upcycled Tasmanian made jewellery and talented Huon Valley maker Georgie Cummings is on board with her hand stitched Australian vegetable tanned Kangaroo leather creations.

Mitch Evans also joins the festival for the first time this year with his metal, bone and chain large scale sculptures and in a real coup for the festival local artist Brendan Walls will be working with light and sound in his newest work reflecting on pageantry and religious ceremony, V.V.V.V.V. Brendan Walls is an internationally recognised sound artist whose work has expanded in recent years to embrace light, architecture and sculpture.
