Vocational education giant Careers Australia has gone into voluntary administration, leaving 15,000 students and 1000 staff in limbo.
Last year the private training college was forced to pay back $44 million in government loans after enrolling more than 12,000 students under false pretences. The company often targeted vulnerable communities, signing up people door-to-door by promising free courses and bonus giveaways, in order to secure hundreds of millions in government funding to provide HECS-style loans for students at private colleges.
